Lake Travis ISD properties will soon be available for wireless communication development after the school board recently approved an agreement with Crown Castle USA, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of shared wireless infrastructure. District officials expect the partnership will result in the expansion and improvement of wireless coverage across the district as well as provide a new source of unrestricted revenue.
According to the agreement, the district will have final approval of the locations of the communication towers to be sub-leased to third-party providers. The lessee will ensure that wireless communications transmitted from the structures will not adversely impact the district’s professional and conservative image.
Cell towers are the most familiar infrastructure type primarily used for voice and data transmission. Other larger towers can also be used for services like television and radio.
