Many students spent the first few days of their Thanksgiving break sleeping in, spending time with friends, or catching up on their favorite TV shows. However, the Lake Travis Model United Nations team chose to devote the first three days of its break to debating international policy, the complexities of cultures, and many other pertinent issues to the global affairs of today during the Central Texas Model United Nations (CTMUN) 2015 Conference held November 20-22 at the AT&T Executive Education & Conference Center in Austin.
“The students of Lake Travis High School were excited to bring along many middle school delegates as well, whose hard work and dedication both impressed and brought confidence to the future of an organization which we all care deeply for,” Dana Browning said, Lake Travis High School Model UN advisor.
CTMUN staff recognized a number of LTHS students for their participation and success at the conference, including:
Senior member Audrey Larcher received CTMUN’s prestigious Board of Directors Scholarships for her efforts throughout her Model UN career
In General Assembly Plenary, Emily Hebel received an Honorable Mention for her work in representing Finland
In General Assembly Third Committee, Nova Sarver received an Honorable Mention for her work in representing Syria
In The Russian Civil War crisis room, Harrison Mark received Best Delegate for his work representing Maria Spiridonova
In the Chicago crisis room, Sara Flinn received an Honorable Mention for her work in representing Jane Addams
