LTMS students ‘Make-A-Wish’ through letters to Santa

Lake Travis Middle School eighth grade students recently penned more than 350 letters to Santa as part of Macy's ‘Believe in the Magic of Giving’ campaign.

For every letter that is dropped in the big red letterbox at any Macy’s or sent online, the department store will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish foundation, up to $1 million.

“We talked about ‘the power of one’ and what we could do as a school community to help those less fortunate by writing letters,” Krista Eaton said, LTMS Pre-AP Language Arts teacher.  “The first paragraph of our letters included something about our students, the second paragraph focused on what they are thankful for, while the final paragraph highlighted their individual wish. Many of the letters were tear-jerkers.  We have some very sweet kids at Lake Travis Middle School.”

Language Arts students in Amanda Aulbach’s and Martha Medlock’s classes also participated in the project.  ‘Believe in the Magic of Giving’ is open through Dec. 24.
