Bee Cave Elementary 3rd Grade students help ‘change the world’

Third grade students at Bee Cave Elementary School learned how they can change the world January 21 during a live online panel event hosted by Discovery Education.

As part of ‘Meet Students Who Are Changing The World,’ the third graders interacted with students across the country who are taking action on issues from climate change and energy efficiency to giving back to their communities.

Students in partner classes taught by Melanie Cravey and Chasity Beatty, as well as students from several other third grade classes at Bee Cave Elementary, posed questions during the live event. One student in Mrs. Cravey’s class, Ana Sarria, was overjoyed to have her question answered live by student panelist and poet Amanda Gorman.

“It was very motivating for our students to see their questions answered live on air,” Ms. Cravey said. “The students were inspired by the teenage panelists which included an award-winning inventor, a non-profit founder, a filmmaker and director, a scientist, and an animal conservationist.”
