The Spicewood Arts Society (SAS), the ‘Home of the Arts in the Hill Country,’ will hold its annual fundraiser on Friday, February 19 at the Spicewood Vineyards Event Center, 1419 CR 409 in Spicewood. Proceeds from the event will benefit arts programs in local schools as well as for scholarships awarded to students in both Lake Travis and Marble Falls high schools who will be pursuing a post-secondary education in an art-related field.
The evening will begin with a silent auction from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and a buffet dinner provided by Verdes Café will be served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. After dinner, Austin’s 10-piece show band, The Matchmaker Band, will perform its special renditions of Motown, soul, and funk as well as popular songs from the 80’s, 90’s, and today. During intermission, a live auction will be conducted by local auctioneer Terrell Cass.
The Spicewood Arts Society’s scholarship program provided six $1,500 scholarships to deserving high school seniors in 2014 and again in 2015. During that time, storytellers and musicians have performed at West Cypress Hills, Spicewood, and Highland Lakes elementary schools due in part to donations received the night of the fundraiser.
“This event is highly anticipated by folks in the community each year,” SAS president Debbie Starnes said. “We at SAS strive to make this a delightful experience for all who join us for this evening of fun, food, and dancing. Our patrons have an opportunity to show their support for our role in keeping the arts alive in the Hill Country.”
