Lake Travis celebrates football state championship team, student success at Parade of Champions

The Cav Nation was out in full force at the Hill Country Galleria Sunday, January 8 to cheer on the 2016 UIL Class 6A – Division I state football championship team during the Lake Travis High School Parade of Champions.

The Cavaliers defeated the Woodlands 41-13 on December 17, 2016 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, earning the school its sixth state title since 2007.  The parade, which traversed along Main Street, also highlighted numerous other students and their achievements in academics, fine arts and athletics from the past calendar year such as the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program qualifiers and the 2016 UIL 6A Girls Golf state championship team.

Additionally, several dignitaries participated in a proclamation and trophy presentation ceremony at Bee Cave City Hall Immediately after the procession, including U.S. Representative Roger Williams who rode through the parade in a Batmobile.  Pre-event entertainment was provided by the Lake Travis Fiddlers.  Lakeway resident and Grammy award-winning musician Rick Treviño performed the National Anthem prior to the parade.

The event was hosted by the City of Bee Cave and the Hill Country Galleria.
