Sara Flinn will graduate as Valedictorian of the Lake Travis High School Class of 2017, school officials announced earlier this month. She is the daughter of Larry Flinn and Catherine Torres.
Sara has attended Lake Travis schools for 12 years. In addition to being the top graduate in the Class of 2017, she is also a National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist, a sponsorship intern of local nonprofit Africa's Promise Village, and a volunteer for the Community Beautification Committee. Sara also participates in the school's Model United Nations, Creative Writing Club, and UIL Academics. Sara plans to major in Neuroscience and Psychology.
Spencer Buckner will graduate as Salutatorian of the Class of 2017. He is the son of Harold and Kathy Buckner.
Spencer has attended Lake Travis schools since 7th grade. Like Sara, he too is a National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist and a member of Model United Nations. Spencer is a National Speech and Debate Association Academic All American and currently serves as vice president of the school's Speech and Debate team. Most recently, he earned a state silver medal in Congressional Debate. Spencer is also a member of the school's orchestra program.
He is expected to enroll in the University of Texas Plan II Honors program and major in Government and Economics.
