School lunches are healthier than ever, with more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and less fat and sodium. National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the benefits of our lunch program, and the appealing choices we offer.

Lake Travis ISD schools celebrated National School Lunch (NSLW) Week, October 11-13, to encourage students to take advantage of the healthy lunch choices available at their school. This year, the Texas Department of Agriculture's theme for NSLW is "Rock the Day with a Healthy School Lunch!" The campaign was designed to emphasize the healthy foods that are offered daily at LTISD schools.

Lake Travis cafés staff encouraged the balance of selecting an item from each the food groups during lunch with “photo booth” style pictures complete with props. On the last day of NSLW, students were encouraged to dress up as rock stars and were celebrated for participating.
