Kardivas celebrate successful year with reception

More than 300 girls from the Kardivas clubs at Bee Cave, Lake Pointe, Lake Travis, Lakeway, Serene Hills and West Cypress Hills elementary schools, as well as Barton Creek Elementary School in the Eanes school district, celebrated the completion of a successful year with a reception held April 27 at the Lake Travis High School cafeteria.

Joined by their high school mentors, the girls played bingo, 'DIVAS' awards were presented to girls from each elementary school, and a flashmob dance was performed.

Kardivas, a non-profit 501(c)3, is a character club for 5th grade girls.  They meet after school each Thursday at all six elementary campuses in Lake Travis ISD and at Barton Creek Elementary in the Eanes school district.

The name 'Kardivas' is derived from the Greek word “kardia” which means "heart," or "seat of emotions."  DIVAS stands for Devoted, Inspired, Virtuous, Authentic, Sisterhood.
