Ridley Dent, a seventh-grade student at Hudson Bend Middle School, has been selected as a finalist in the Take Care of Texas Video Contest. Now Ridley needs your vote.
Sponsored by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Take Care of Texas is a statewide campaign that promotes environmental conservation and protection. Each year, Take Care of Texas provides students with the opportunity to create a 30-second video that portrays positive ways Texans can help keep air and water clean, conserve water and energy, reduce waste, and save money in the process.
Public voting runs through 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. Three videos from each age group—6th-8th grade and 9th-12th—will proceed to the final round of judging. Prizes to be provided by Waste Management of Texas, Inc. include GoPro camera packages and scholarships. TCEQ will recognize first place winners at the 2018 Environmental Trade Fair and Conference May 15-16 in Austin.
